SITUATION

At A.B. Gida, a large laying hen farm in Turkey, managers were faced with persistent blockages in their water systems which were influencing the health of their hens. Farm managers chose to use physical water treatment to clean their pipes and lines. They equipped part of the farm with 13 AQUA4D® systems.
The main objective was to eliminate bacteria in the drinking water systems and to solve the problems of clogged pipes. Could this water-smart treatment be the sustainable solution to all these problems?

RESULTS

On a visit 3 years after installation, the customer reported that the pipes and feeding lines have remained free from blockages or clogging. What’s more, the company no longer uses chemicals for cleaning the pipes, further adding to the positive sustainable impact.
The farm managers reported the following:• Biofilm has been completely and permanently eliminated

• Calcification in the pipes has been completely eliminated
• Bacteria have been eliminated
• A significant decrease of broken eggs (3% ~ 4%)
• A notable decrease in the use of chemicals

Lastly, there was an unexpected financial benefit which hugely impacted upon the Return on Investment. Directly due to the increased animal health and productivity, the company’s earnings had increased. This means that from a $34,000 USD investment in AQUA4D® systems, the farm posted an extra $2,000,000 in earnings – a number they say is directly attributable to the benefits they reaped through AQUA4D.

  • Turkey

  • Sustainable livestock production

  • Animal Health

The AQUA4D® system has allowed the elimination of scaling and biofilm, with a positive effect on the health of the hens. During the last 3 years, we have stopped using chemicals for cleaning our water lines enabling a saving of $25,000. Additionally, based on our average production of 30 million eggs/month and egg breakage decreasing by 3-4%, we estimate a gain of $2 million in 3 years thanks to our AQUA4D® systems.
