In new buildings, a so-called “softening system” is often installed by default and without much knowledge of the matter to reduce limescale deposits in water pipes, which negatively changes the water quality in terms of health and sustainability. In addition, there is very often budget pressure and too little search for alternative products. Sustainable technologies are somewhat more expensive to purchase, but are much more profitable after a very short time compared to classic ion exchangers.
If nothing is installed at all, there is a risk of pressure losses or blockages in the piping system as well as problems with connected devices and appliances. This can lead to very expensive renovation work, during which the building cannot be used.
